The church spire
The tower with its spire is the oldest part of the building. It was built in the 13th century, but recently Norman stones were found at the base of the massive columns. It houses the six bells, which are rung every Sunday. The sixth bell was a gift of the Pilgrim John Howland in America. John Howland sailed with the Mayflower and is the ancestor of several distinguished American presidents.
